You're Invited to a Public Workshop on Hazardous Waste Management Regulations (6 NYCRR Part 370 Series), *Rescheduled Cortland and Albany Workshops

DEC is holding workshops statewide on the hazardous waste rules and revisions that are being considered for adoption. DEC is now offering two different workshop series throughout the state: Hazardous Waste Revisions and Lab Waste Management for Universities.

The Hazardous Waste Revisions workshop sessions will primarily focus on the Generator Improvements Rule and associated state-initiated changes, the Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals Rule, and the addition of aerosol cans and paint to the Universal Waste Rule. These revisions are part of an ongoing DEC rulemaking referred to as FedReg6. FedReg6 also includes: the Solvent-Contaminated Wipes Rule; the Electronic Manifest Rules; and the Definition of Solid Waste Rule. DEC staff will also be available for discussions after the meetings.

Those who wish to attend the workshops need to register. Information about the rulemaking and registration details for the workshops are available on DEC's website under “Outreach Information.”

*The Cortland and Albany Hazardous Waste Revisions Workshops have been rescheduled for March 3 and March 31, respectively. Please see the "Outreach Information" section at the link above for more information about dates and workshop times.

The Lab Waste Management for Universities workshops will cover managing hazardous lab waste under the Academic Labs Rule provisions and information for universities that want to adopt green chemistry practices in their labs. Currently, this workshop will be available in the Albany area on March 31. We will announce workshops in other locations in the near future. Register now!

If you do not have internet access and would like to attend a workshop, please write to the address below or call (518) 402-8651.
