The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center has launched two national support centers for communities and organizations looking to improve outcomes for people with behavioral health needs in contact with the criminal justice system. The Law Enforcement-Mental Health Collaboration Support Center and the Center for Justice and Mental Health Partnerships will serve as unique clearinghouses for free training, resources, and tailored assistance.
The Law Enforcement-Mental Health Collaboration Support Center offers free training, resources, and support to jurisdictions wanting to improve their law enforcement and community responses to people with behavioral health conditions or intellectual and developmental disabilities. States, localities, federally recognized tribal governments, law enforcement agencies, and criminal justice or nonprofit organizations can request assistance for a range of needs, including help developing high-quality police-mental health collaborations. Learn more by visiting the national center.
The Center for Justice and Mental Health Partnerships connects jurisdictions with the resources, knowledge, and skills necessary to improve responses to people at the intersection of criminal justice and behavioral health systems. States, localities, federally recognized tribal governments, and behavioral health organizations can request assistance designed to meet their jurisdiction’s needs. These can range from review of training protocols to information on best practices and advise on program design, among other types of support. Learn more by visiting the national center.
Both national support centers are administered by the CSG Justice Center with support from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance.
