Seeking English language arts, science content advisers for state tests

The Department currently is accepting applications for participants to serve on content advisory committees for English language arts grades 7 and 8 and science grades 5 and 8. Ohio’s educators and content specialists play a vital role in the creation of valid and reliable assessments and fill this role by serving on content advisory committees.

Every test has a content advisory committee. The purpose of these committees is to review and evaluate test questions and materials to ensure each question is a valid and appropriate measure of Ohio’s Learning Standards for a specific subject area and grade level.

The next English Language Arts Content Advisory Committee meeting will occur virtually in January 2023 for Reading Passage reviews. All other committee meetings for English language arts and science will occur in person in Columbus in June 2023.

Applicants must describe their experience in education, including expertise with Ohio’s Learning Standards in English language arts or science, and identify grade-level and content area assignment preferences. Applications are due Oct. 9 at 11 p.m. Selected applicants will receive notification by Oct. 28. Please be sure to include an active email address for notifications. New committee members will receive detailed meeting information and logistics in their acceptance email.
