COVID Data

The U.S. Department of Education worked across the federal government to track the pandemic and ensure schools, families and communities had the most relevant and current data to keep everyone safe. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) provided real-time data tracking of the COVID-19 pandemic on this site through Dec 31, 2022.

Previously, this page hosted weekly estimates of school learning modality (including in-person, remote, or hybrid learning) for U.S. K-12 public and independent charter school districts for the 2021-2022 school year. These data are archived at HealthData.gov in the School Learning Modalities data set. CDC continues to provide access to other important data related to the COVID-19 pandemic at CDC COVID Data Tracker.
