Teaching English in Taiwan Program applications due April 24

Through a memorandum of understanding with Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, the Department and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago invite Ohio English language arts, English as a second language and world language teachers to apply to the Teaching English in Taiwan Program. The program seeks current classroom teachers and recently retired teachers who maintain current Ohio licensure. Educators selected to work in Taiwan will teach English as a foreign language to elementary or middle school students for one academic year. Initial teaching contracts typically last for 11 months.

In Taiwan, each Ohio teacher is paired with a Taiwanese classroom teacher. In addition to providing English language instruction, teachers work with Taiwanese educators to develop curriculum, prepare lesson plans and teaching materials, conduct classes and evaluate student progress.

The Department currently is accepting applications for the 2023-2024 school year. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 24, 2023.
