The PedalAid app allows you to raise money for charity while you cycle. Every kilometre you ride along the designated routes goes towards the current Charity Challenge total. If the challenge target is met a donation will be made to the nominated charity.

1/2/24 – PedalAid has now closed

Sadly, the January challenge was the final one. After nearly seven years (the first challenge was April 2017!) PedalAid will be ending. PedalAid has been supported by grants and staff time from the Isle of Wight Council via Department for Transport active travel funding, but cuts to active travel funding nationally have led to the Council having to end their support.

We’re so thankful for the support we’ve received over the years from the Council, local businesses, and most importantly the user community. When we embarked on the project we didn’t anticipate that it would run for anywhere near as long as it has. With your help we have raised thousands of pounds for local charities, and (we hope) encouraged many people to cycle more.

Keep pedalling!!

The Cycle Route

Much of the route covered by PedalAid is the Isle of Wight part of National Cycle Route 23, following the full Red Squirrel Trail, which goes from Cowes to Newport to Sandown, then loops back through Shanklin, Wroxall and Godshill.

Also, from Newport routes go to Island Harbour, Mews Lane and Carisbrooke. On the west of the Island there is now the Yarmouth to Freshwater Bay route.

Routes are mostly off-road, and suitable for all bike types. Most of it is flat and easy going, making these good commuter routes as well as very enjoyable leisure routes.
