UK Seafood Fund: Infrastructure Scheme

The UK Seafood Fund invests in the long-term sustainability of the UK fisheries and seafood sector. The fund is divided between several schemes which have mostly now closed but the majority of the funding is via the Infrastructure Scheme which is open for applications throughout 2024.

The Infrastructure Scheme funds projects that build capacity across the UK fishing sector supply chain. It invests in improved capability at ports, harbours, processing, and aquaculture facilities, welfare in the catching sector and fleet modernisation.

Round 3 of the Infrastructure Scheme is open for applications for the following:

  • purchase new, more fuel-efficient engines for commercial fishing vessels, or to modify existing engines (for owners of registered commercial fishing vessels)
  • improve commercial vessels to reduce fuel use and emissions (for fishing businesses engaged in commercial fishing, producer organisations, public bodies, fishermen’s associations or cooperatives working in the seafood sector)
  • improve port infrastructure for the commercial catching sector (for ports, port authorities or businesses directly supporting commercial fishing and located on port grounds)
  • improve the health, safety and wellbeing in the catching sector (for organisations already listed above plus training providers with expertise in health and safety at sea)
