Competitive Grants

The State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants Division manages several grant programs to assist with a variety of historic preservation and community projects focused on heritage preservation. The funding for all of the below grants, regardless of program, comes from the Historic Preservation Fund.

More information about all of our currently funded project grant programs may be found below. Competitive grant programs provide financial assistance to support historic preservation projects to States, Tribes, local governments, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations. Each grant program has its own eligiblity requirements as well as program objectives.

Other National Park Service Programs

In addition to Historic Preservation Fund grants, the National Park Service also operates more than 50 grant and community assistance programs not managed by the State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants Division. These programs help to support and develop recreational and cultural opportunites, conserve and restore natural and cultural resources, and provide assistance with NAGPRA compliance.
