Goodwill EasterSeals hosts bowling event for Developmental Disabilities Month

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- March is Developmental Disabilities Month and Goodwill EasterSeals Miami Valley is striking up awareness.

The organization held a bowling party at Poelking Lanes South to highlight how people with and without disabilities come together to form strong communities.

“Our employees are very passionate about helping people with disabilities," said Lucas Hohnstein, general manager, Poelking Lanes. "We have had a couple of programs previously, specifically for those individuals, so when we were approached about it, it seemed like a match made in heaven. We love to support the community, it seemed like a good fit.”

Because of the success on Tuesday, another bowling event is being planned in the near future.

Goodwill EasterSeals Miami Valley’s Goodwill stores support more than 40 programs and services that assist people with disabilities, and other disadvantages to achieve independence. For every revenue dollar the retail outlets receive, 87 cents goes to their programs.
