 About the instructor

Karla Williams, GovCon Expert, Strategist and Coach at GovCon Academy

With over 35 years of experience, coach and mentor Karla Williams brings a unique perspective to the GovCon arena that comes from sitting on both sides of the negotiating table: as a contractor who won millions of dollars in government contracts; and as an instructor, consultant, and mentor to contracting teams engaged in complex service acquisitions at various government agencies. Karla is the founder of GovCon Academy where her mission is to empower business owners. She teaches them the art and science of BD, capture, and proposal writing so they can lead by example and never be held hostage by a consultant, coach, or key employee again. She is also the founder of GovCon Women, an organization that provides educational networking events for the GovCon community several times each year. Formerly, she was an instructor for Defense Acquisition University teaching Acquisition, Contracting, and Small Business professionals. At DAU she won several awards for outstanding instruction and course development efforts. As a member of the business community, Karla has been awarded the Department of Transportation’s Minority-Owned Business and Woman-Owned Business of the Year designation as well as the Minority Supplier Development Council Small Business Person of the year award.
