Grants for greater wellbeing

During winter 2020/21, The D-Day Story used funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to offer grants of up to £500 to small charities and community groups which benefit people in Portsmouth.

Applicants had to complete an application and share their idea of how they would spend the grant. Each application went before a panel with representatives from The D-Day Story, the Independence and Wellbeing Team, Finance and Hive Portsmouth.

To be successful applicants had to meet one or more of the following three priorities:

  • Priority 1 – Improving the health and wellbeing of local people
  • Priority 2 – Community Celebrations and bringing people together online
  • Priority 3 – Share the stories of D-Day and Landing Craft Tank 7074

Ten organisations were successful and in total £4,500 was distributed in to the community to bring greater wellbeing for people in Portsmouth.
