As we and the Veterans we serve celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday this week, it’s important to us to recognize some of the many things that we are thankful for every day at VA.

Our mission

We’re united as an organization to deliver on our country’s long-standing promise to honor and care for the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our country. This is what unites us, what drives us and what shapes the way we approach our daily work.

Our culture is defined by a set of core values: integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect and excellence. Every day, we are thankful for the clear directives that our mission provides, and how they renew our dedication to our Veterans.

Our patients

With over 9 million Veterans relying on VA for health care, not a day goes by that we don’t see some of the brave men and women who volunteered to serve this country. It’s always been our goal to make sure that, when they walk through our doors, they receive medical care commensurate with the service they have offered.

At VA, we know that our world would be a very different place without Veterans. Though we wish that every Veteran could be hale and hearty every single day, we are thankful to stand beside them during these health care journeys – to be here when and how they need us.

Our staff

Just as Veterans give us a reason to serve, our staff is why we can serve. From doctors and nurses to dentists and aides, from police officers to carpenters to cooks, it takes a team of dedicated professionals to make VA what it is – the benchmark of excellence in care.

We are thankful for every member of our team. For those who come in early and stay late, for those who go the extra mile, we know that your choice to work at VA is because you have embraced the mission caring for our Veterans in a kind and professional manner. You are the reason we can make a difference in the lives of those we serve, and for that, we are grateful.

Our future (and yours)

As with everything we do, VA looks to the future with an eye towards our ongoing mission: care that exceeds expectations, restores hope and builds trust within the Veteran community. VA continues to be a leading source of health care innovation. Whether it is improving access to care, finding personalized solutions to Veterans’ needs, or researching new ways of detecting, preventing and treating disease, we are thankful for what the future holds.

To help make that future a reality, we recruit the best and the brightest to our VA team, and we know that means providing a chance to showcase your skills. A career at VA offers opportunities for leadership and advancement that are second to none across a wide range of disciplines, so this Thanksgiving, we are also thankful to be part of your future.

Work at VA

As we give thanks with friends and loved ones, near and far, we remain thankful for all we have listed and more. Join us in this celebration and consider what it takes to provide the best care possible to Veterans.

You are completely correct, New Orleans VA is out of control. May 2020 I was attacked by a male nurse who broke my ankle and three toes. But they got away with it of course.

Sure am glad I have my chest waders on! Getting pretty deep with this article!
    1) their “MISSION IS. First protect the “System!”
Second,, make those statistics look good for their bonuses & promotions!
    2) & 3) their PATIENTS (aka- their GUINEA PIGS) keep the propaganda & lies going by hiding the true facts from the public. Unlike a civilian medical system that keeps customers with INTEGRITY & PROFESSIONALISM, we need our coward leaders in Washington to keep promoting the BS to the public.
Too bad the VA is a System of retaliation against “GOOD EMPLOYEES” who rock the gravy train boat by calling out employees that don’t care what happens to vets as long as these employees can squash the REAL TRUTH, then get the GOOD EMPLOYEE WHO REALLY CARES, banished to the basement away from patients! Plus, the System is designed to be against veterans in every way! It’s the VA’s way or suffer!
Personally I think the VA is an outlet for big pharma companies to UNLOAD their outdated procedural drugs!
When you hear anyone saying “Our vets are hero’s & they deserve the BEST CARE AVAILABLE. Ask them to finish that sentence. Best Care on the Market or best care in the VA’s budget?
    3) Although there are many good employees that care, the retaliatory
atmosphere they work under & the fear of losing their jobs will take precedent over a patients health! Wouldn’t want to lose that cushy govt job with good benefits & retirement that even the civilian hospitals can’t compete with. And these 2nd rate doctors that harm vets have a great place to hide! Like the VA doc I just read about botched 147 foot & ankle surgeries which you would think that would be a good reason to fire them, right? Oh no, the VA wouldn’t do that, the just put him on probation! Would you just say OK if your civilian doctor botched your surgery? He’ll no, you’d be calling a lawyer. Can’t sue govt employees. Look at the 200 dead in Phoenix. The murder of a guy who had 22 years of service & was a vet for 7 days & FIRST visit to the Asheville, NC & the caring & qualifies VA ER staff overdosed him & he left in a rubber bag. Asheville settled with his wife and a NDA included to cover up the truth! AND, the Asheville VA KEPT their 5 star rating. Let’s not forget the VA employee in W. VA VA who just got 7 life sentences for murdering 7 vets. And they didn’t bother charging her with the other 20. Or the doctor in Ws. who killed 2 or 3 vets by over prescribing options. 8 months of paid leave before the state took his medical license, and the the VA bumped him into Administration I think.
    4) the future. Same $#!÷ different year. The VA protects THEIR future by skewing & lying about the REAL TRUTH to protect THEIR future not ours. Our future will stay the same as it was with us Vietnam vets & probably vets before us, pretty dim for good care, but they keep their govt bennues & great retirement that a medical person in the civilian sector will not get.
    5) yep, come work at the VA if you can’t make it in the REAL WORLD CIVILIAN SECTOR. We govt UNION employees stick together to PROTECT THE SYSTEM, so you can skate along with us to get those govt perks as long as we can quell those whining veterans thru intimidation, denying care, and lying to the cowards in Washington as not to go against THEIR BS they tell the MOM’s & DAD’s when the lie to them to send their kids to another BS war! And we VA employees have to help Washington hide the truth so they can start another BS war to keep our corrupt, uncaring System going!
Check Social Media veteran groups to hear other vets compelling stories. Social media is bringing out the truth on this CORRUPT, UNCARING, SYSTEM, that allows vets to suffer & die!
So the next story you read on the VANTAGE, make sure you put your chest waders on as it will be real deep. Oh yeah, do you know that the VA considers ALL VETERANS LIARS! AN accused or even convicted murderer getsbto tell his story in a trial & appeals, not a vet. Have an allegation made against you & you will be tried, sentenced & hung in a tree & the VA will not even let you know until your swinging & then they may ask you if you complain to beg them to remove your punishment. And the is done by a PUTIN OR HITLER style with a “SECRET COMM. OF EXPERTS!” But you’ll have to trust the VA as far as these people on the DBC ( Disruptive Behavior Comm) being experts because it’s SECRET! They are not even man enough to say who they are & what their qualifications are! I guess these people on the DBC were born with Feline attributes as they are too scared if vets to say who they are. Kind of goes against the Rule if Law we all fought for, doesn’t it?
    5) Yep, we’re hiring. So if you can’t make it in tbecreal world medical field, or are un qualified, don’t care about the patients suffering or dying, then we have a position for you here at the VA! Get your knee pads on, get those lips lubricated & you too can get a nice retirement on the Graves of those of us who offered our lives to protect our country!
Be careful with VA care! It can kill you & no one will ever know ow the truth & if it does come out, we have an endless supply of taxpayer money to give your spouse provided they SIGN AN NDA!
