Step 1: CONTACT YOUR LOCAL ELECTION OFFICE ☐

Ask them what address you can use to register or update your registration. Most places let voters list a shelter, a street corner, or a park as their address. Find your local election office here.

Step 2: KNOW THE RULES AND DEADLINES ☐

Some states require ID to register or vote. Some vote exclusively by mail. All have deadlines. Check your state’s rules here .

Step 3: ASK FOR HELP, IF YOU NEED IT ☐

Your local shelter or Continuum of Care can help you navigate the voting process.

Step 4: REGISTER ☐

Then, confirm your registration on your state’s election website.

Step 5: PICK A VOTING OPTION ☐

Election Day isn’t the only option. Find out if and how you can vote by mail or early at the polls.

Step 6: CHECK WHAT’S ON YOUR BALLOT ☐

Learn about the candidates and issues you’ll vote on.

Step 7: VOTE! ☐

Many local groups offer free transportation to the polls. If you have any problems at the polls, call 1-866-OUR-VOTE (687-8683).
