May is National Stroke Awareness and Prevention Month. Strokes are a leading cause of death in the United States, but they can be prevented and treated. Through education and lifestyle changes, the risk of stroke goes down dramatically. Identifying factors that contribute to strokes and heart disease can reduce the risk for developing long-term medical complications and death.
