BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released a report on Washington’s water supply, and the outlook is not promising.

According to the report, snow drought conditions are severe in much of Washington. In particular, stations and snow courses have reported record or near record lows for snowpack throughout the northern part of the state.

The North Puget Sound Basin is at 56% of the normal snowpack for the area and the monthly precipitation rate is 63% of normal. The eastern part of Whatcom County is now in moderate drought conditions.

The report said that little appreciable snowfall is still expected this year.

It follows previous reports that warned about the low snowpack.
