We have a great career opportunity in our Human Resources and Payroll service HR Operations Service Manager £49,498 - £56,357 per annum Permanent Full Time (37 hours per week) with a range of flexibilities, including hybrid working, aligned to our Worksmart arrangements Blackdown House, Honiton About the role It’s an exciting time to join East Devon District Council’s HR Team in this key role, which will lead on our operational HR service delivery and be part of the Human Resource Service’s Management Team. With a new Chief Executive and a focus on cultural and organisational change, the role will work closely with the Corporate Lead, HR Business Partners and other HR colleagues in supporting the organisation with its ambitions. The role will oversee operational case work, advising and supporting colleagues and managers, ensure that the Council’s HR policies align with legal and organisational requirements and be responsible for the further development of our successful business partner model. About you We’re looking for a professionally qualified HR generalist who has a track record of advising and working on a range of HR casework including employee relations and organisational change activity. Management experience and the ability to lead and support HR colleagues is essential as is the ability to work with a range of stakeholders to influence and secure excellent people management practice. Strong communication and organisation skills are essential. Previous experience of working within a public sector and unionised environment is helpful, but not essential. Our Development Management team deal with in excess of 2,500 planning or related applications a year and as an Assistant Planning Officer, you will assist with the processing of householder and other related planning applications, which will include undertaking site visits, assessing proposals, negotiating with applicants and preparing written reports. You will also provide planning advice to members of the public, over the telephone and in person and carry out research on areas of land or specific buildings in relation to historical records, land designation and policies.
