ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr today announced the creation of a Statewide Opioid Task Force, providing an infrastructure of communication between organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors that are combating and are impacted by this critical issue.

“Last year, 982 people in the state of Georgia died from an opioid-related drug overdose,” said Attorney General Chris Carr. “We are creating the Statewide Opioid Task Force to provide an infrastructure of communication between the public, private and non-profit sector, local, state and federal officials and other stakeholders to ensure we have strong and effective tools to combat this issue that’s plaguing our state and nation. We must fight back harder, and we believe this platform will help us strengthen our state’s response and save lives.”
