A key part of our future regulatory model is a new single assessment framework. This will form the basis for our assessments of quality in providers, local authorities and integrated care systems.
In this new framework we'll continue to use our existing five key questions (safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led).
Under each key question there will be a set of topic areas and quality statements. The statements replace our existing Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) and describe what good care looks like and will link to the regulations.
Today we've published the quality statements in full on our website.
To help give structure and consistency to our assessments we are introducing a set of six evidence categories that we'll use as part of our new regulatory model.
They show the types of evidence we use to understand the quality of care being delivered against a quality statement.
We won't necessarily use every evidence category to assess against each quality statement.
How many evidence categories we need to consider and the sources of evidence we'll collect varies according to:
- the service type or model
- the level of assessment (service, provider, local authority or integrated care system)
- whether the assessment is for an existing service or at registration
In future we'll share detailed evidence requirements for each specific service type and quality statement.
Over the next few weeks we'll continue to publish more information on our website about our new regulatory model.
