HIGH rip current risk south of Cape Hatteras including the beaches at Frisco, Hatteras Village and Ocracoke. Ocean conditions will bring dangerous rip currents. Ocean swimming is not recommended, stay out of the water!
MODERATE rip current risk at the beaches of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Pea Island, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon and Buxton. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water. Never swim alone and always take flotation!
Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which was at 730 am with the next low around 730 pm today.
