Morning Beach Conditions

May 13, 2024

MODERATE rip current risk at the beaches of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Pea Island, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon and Buxton. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water. Never swim alone and always take flotation!

LOW rip current risk at beaches south of Cape Hatteras including the beaches at Frisco, Hatteras and Ocracoke. While the risk for rip currents is low, life-threatening rip currents may still be present.  Remember LOW risk does not mean NO risk!

Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which was at 635 am with next low around 625 pm today.

Expect sunny skies again today, with high temperatures in the lower 70s and east winds at 5 to 10 mph. Water Temperatures: Jennette’s Pier: 60. Oregon Inlet Marina...66. Rodanthe Pier...64. Avon Pier...65.

Ocean Rescue staffing is at off season levels. If help is needed, know your location and call 911!
