The Oregon Pharmacy Board is working on ways to reduce long lines at pharmacies and help people get vaccinated.

Board officials say one way to avoid the lines is setting up mail order pharmacy options - especially for folks who refill prescriptions regularly.

This sends your medications right to your door.

They're working on additional ways to get things done faster.

"We're removing some barriers for pharmacy technicians,” says Joe Schnabel, Executive Director of the Oregon Pharmacy Board. “We're working on rules for Amazon lockers for prescription pickup for afterhours and for some of those sorts of things. So we're actively working on it, but none of them are quick fixes."

The Pharmacy Board says the Oregon Health Authority is working with a staffing agency to help provide more pharmacists to independent pharmacies.

This will help reduce long lines and assist with Covid-19 vaccinations.
