Financial statements are a record of the financial activities of any business. As a small business owner you need to understand how to analyze, interpret, and read financial statements. Based upon the analysis of financial statements the profitability, liquidity, and strength of a company can be assessed. The four basic financial statements are the income statement, statement of owner’s equity, balance sheet, and the statement of cash flows. This course gives a basic understanding of the analysis and interpretation of each of these financial statements and also practice on how to do a simple cash flow projection. Understanding the financial statements will enable a small business owner to keep track of cash, debt, income, and expenses, each month and throughout the year which is key to owning a successful business.
