2023 Caraid Award Nomination Form
The Caraid Award recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to observing and understanding our oceans, coasts and Great Lakes through vision, leadership, friendship and collaboration.  The word “Caraid” is a Scottish Gaelic word, meaning “care" or "love” and is pronounced like “courage.”  Caring and courage to do what matters are the attributes that make IOOS work.

The Caraid Award celebrates not what someone has accomplished but how they approached their work that inspired and created lasting results. As we appreciate leaders who have an established career, please also consider someone still early in their leadership path.

Nominees will be selected based on demonstration of examples on how their:
1) Actions brought people together into cohesive networks to address community needs, benefiting people and the environment,
2) Enthusiasm and interest in how ocean and coastal science and observations made a difference,
3) Leadership inspired excellence in others,
4) Approach sought solutions with grace and a sense of humor.

The Caraid award honors Dr. Ru Morrison, a founding member of the IOOS Association who exemplified these traits.

Please provide enough information in the application for the review committee to be able to understand and evaluate the applicant suitability to receive this recognition.  Specifically, characteristics of HOW the nominee approaches their work should be demonstrated with examples.
