On Friday, March 14, 5:25 p.m. HST, a M4.4 earthquake occurred 34 mi (55 km) west of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, Island of Hawaiʻi, at a depth of 22 mi (36 km) below sea level. Shaking was moderate and widely felt, no damage expected. View All Messages.

Episode 13 ended at 3:13 pm HST on March 11 when the south vent shut down. The north vent shut down 2 minutes earlier at 3:11 pm HST. Small amounts of lava drained from the south vent for a few minutes after fountaining stopped. View All Messages.

Episode 13 lava fountaining continues from both vents at 12:45 pm HST on March 11. Fountain heights from the south vent are 425 ft (130 m) and 260 ft (80 m) from the north vent. Lava has covered more than 60% of Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor. View All Messages.

North vent fountains reached heights over 600 feet (180 meters) by 3:50 am HST March 11 and fountains from the south vent are about half of that height. Lava flows from both vents have covered more than 30% of Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor. View All Messages.
