DEC Announces New Online Reservations for 2020 Camping Season at Rogers Rock Group Sites and North-South Lake Pavilion

Easier Booking of Amenities at Two Popular DEC Facilities

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced that campers and day-users will now be able to make online reservations for group camp sites at the Rogers Rock Campground and Day Use Area, located in Warren County in the Adirondacks, and pavilion rentals at the North-South Lake Campground and Day Use Area, located in Greene County in the Catskills.

"The ability to make online reservations for group sites and pavilions will allow more New Yorkers and visitors to enjoy two of DEC's most popular campground facilities," said Commissioner Basil Seggos. "Automating group site and pavilion reservations supports our mission of expanding recreational opportunities to more members of the public and connecting New Yorkers with the outdoors."

This change will eliminate the current lottery system for group sites at Rogers Rock Campground and Day Use Area located in Hague and will add the sites to the campground reservation system inventory used for booking DEC's other campsites and facilities. There are now three individual group sites (Ballfield, Association A, and Association B) available for rental for the 2020 camping season. Details of each site can be found on DEC's reservation website.

For the first time, pavilion rentals will be available on the campground reservation system at North-South Lake Campground and Day Use Area in Haines Falls. North-South Lake has three unique pavilions for rent (North Lake Day Use Pavilion, North Lake Loop 6 Pavilion, and South Lake Pavilion). Each pavilion boasts a variety of amenities, all of which can be found on the State campground reservation website.

DEC operates 52 campgrounds and five day use areas in the Adirondack and Catskill forest preserves. The summer camping season runs through the summer, with some facilities remaining open during fall foliage and hunting season. In 2019, DEC announced the completion of more than $350,000 in new accessibility and sustainability improvements at North South Lake Campground. The infrastructure improvements include 400 feet of sidewalks along the beach, new picnic tables and grills, an outside shower and foot wash station, and significant improvements in stormwater management throughout the North Lake beach area. More information on additional improvements at the campground can be found on DEC's website.

Under Governor Cuomo's Adventure NY initiative, DEC is making strategic investments to expand access to healthy, active outdoor recreation, connect more New Yorkers and visitors to nature and the outdoors, protect natural resources, and boost local economies.
