Description

The objective of the Missoula Consolidated Planning Board is to enable units of local government within Missoula County to cooperate in promoting quality of life and healthy environment through the orderly development of those units and their environs by planning for the improvement of the present health, safety, convenience and welfare of their citizens and the future development of their communities. To that end, the board will consider the following tenets when reviewing requests brought before them:
  • transportation systems are carefully planned
  • new community centers grow only with adequate facilities, transportation, utility, health, education and recreation
  • the needs of agriculture, industry and business be recognized in future growth
  • residential areas provide healthy surroundings for family life
  • growth of the community be commensurate with the promotion of the efficient economical use of public funds.

Board composition

The Missoula Consolidated Planning Board is comprised of nine members. Each member serves a two-year term; council members are limited to serving three terms of two years each. Partial terms do not count against the term limits.

  • Two City residents appointed by the Mayor.
  • Two City residents appointed by City Council.
  • One City alternate appointed by City Council.
  • Two County members who live outside city limits, appointed by the Commissioners.
  • Two members living anywhere within the County.
  • One alternate from outside City limits, appointed by the Commissioners.
  • One member appointed by the Conservation District Board (or BCC & Council).
