This presentation is designed to provide the home gardener with all of the critical knowledge needed to grow a crop of happy prolific tomatoes all summer.

Whether you’re a long-time grower or a first-year novice, there is something for everyone. This presentation covers: weather and location, soil and irrigation, planting, scaffolding, fertilizer, pruning, harvesting, plant problems and a discussion of tomato varietals.

Raoul Stepakoff has been a Marin Master Gardener since 2015. He has participated in the Edible Demo Garden at IVC since its inception in 2016. Currently he is one of the Garden’s co-leads; previously he was a co-lead of the MMG’s Edible Guild. He has maintained a home vegetable garden everywhere he’s lived for the past 40 years and still finds it a fulfilling endeavor.

Registration is not required, however seating is limited.

Marin County Fire Department has scheduled a pile burn in Baltimore Canyon for Thursday, April 18. The fire crew is planning to prep and burn on one day. Smoke may be visible in surrounding areas, especially neighborhoods near Blue Ridge Road. This work, funded by Parks Measure A, is part of the Greater Ross Valley Shaded Fuel Break initiative. The fuel break will reduce fire risk to Marin communities, and improve forest health.

On Wednesday, April 17, Marin County Department of Public Works will be repainting the road striping on Panoramic Highway between Panoramic View Road and Hwy 1 near Stinson Beach. Painting operations are expected to last all day.

Traffic delays will only be in the direction of the paint trucks and the delays will be less than 10 minutes. Plan ahead to avoid a delayed arrival at your destination (and, thank you for your patience while we improve road safety).
