Ancient Persia was at the axis of the trading world, simultaneously influencing and influenced by both Asia to the east and Europe to the west. Explore the unique art traditions of this fascinating and dynamic region as exemplified by objects from the Asian Art Museum. Speaker Mary Mead was born and raised in Japan, which instilled in her a love of the diverse cultures, arts, and religions of East Asia. Before retiring, she taught world and comparative religion at colleges and universities. She has been a docent at the Asian Art Museum for over ten years, and is Vice-Chair of the Docent Council, Chair of the Members Evaluation Committee, and Chair of the Community Speakers Program.
