Networking

EOD / Major Projects Delivery Networking Event

In response to requests for more networking opportunities from the DBE community, EOD and INDOT’s Major Projects Delivery Division co-hosted a networking event at the Brookville Road substation on Dec.12. The event included a presentation by Kevin Jasinski, Major Project Delivery Division Director, highlighting I-65/I-70 North Split, I-69 Section 6, Contract 5, and the Sherman Minton Bridge projects. Multiple prime contractors comprising the selected bid teams were in attendance as well as over 50 DBEs. The session was largely devoted to networking and we are planning to have a repeat later in the year, so stay tuned for a “Save the Date” email and posting to our website.

Paperless

Say Goodbye to Paper

The Economic Opportunity Division will be working with INDOT’s Management Information Systems (MIS) department to convert several of our old paper and Excel reporting systems into electronic reporting. Starting in January 2020, our MIS department will begin converting our annual PR-1391 reports, the On-the-Job Training Program, and the DBE-3 program into ITAP applications. Read More

Goal

How is DBE Participation Counted Toward Goals?

This article will provide the contracting community and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) with an overview of the evaluation of commercially useful functions on contracts and how and when DBE participation is counted toward contract goals. Finally, real-world examples will be provided that have resulted in DBE participation being reduced or discounted altogether.

Prompt

Prompt Payment

Per federal regulations and INDOT contract specifications, prime contractors must pay all subcontractors — including lessors and materials suppliers — within 10 business days after being paid by the Department. Prompt and full payment of any retainage held by prime contractors must be paid to subcontractors within 30 calendar days after satisfactory completion of their work. Satisfactory completion shall be interpreted as when the subcontractor has completed all physical work, and completed other contract requirements including the submission of all submittals required by the Department. THE INDIANA – KENTUCKY DBE EXCHANGE

DBEs, please continue to use the opportunity for additional work through the Indiana-Kentucky DBE Exchange. The attached marketing flyer has gone out to all prime contractors in Indiana and Kentucky. DBEs certified in Indiana can work on Kentucky projects as DBEs without seeking DBE certification with this agreement through June 30, 2023. If you have questions, click here: https://www.in.gov/indot/2674.htm. Please note that prequalification is a separate requirement in each state.

Check Yourself

DBEs: Check Yourself!

Take time and look at your directory entry to make sure your NAICS codes and work type descriptions are accurate and up-to-date.

Your work types should relate to INDOT contract bid items as close as possible. If your scopes of work have expanded, request an expansion via an amendment application. Contact the Certification or Supportive Services Team for further questions or technical assistance.

Gentle Reminders
