Closing the Art Education Gap for Rural Oregon Youth on the Oregon Coast

The Sitka Youth Program was developed in response to community-based need. We provide arts and STEAM (science, technology engineering, art and math) education through rural Oregon PK-8 schools (all Title 1) with limited or no art programs of their own. By partnering directly with schools and educators to address barriers to arts education unique to rural Oregon, the Sitka Youth Program is on a mission to close arts education access gaps across the coast and state, inspiring the next generation of creative Oregonians.

Current programs include:

·     School-based art and steam education serving Pre-K through 8th grade students in rural Oregon Title 1 schools

·     Artist in school workshops and assembly programs

·     Summer and after-school programs and curriculum

In 2020, the Sitka Youth Program was launched when it joined forces with a small, grass roots nonprofit and helped to grow programming to reach more kids and schools with art access. Read more about this partnership and success story.
