The Director of Communications and Resource Development provides leadership, management, and execution of donor cultivation and stewardship, marketing and communication that furthers the organization’s mission to bring the arts to local school communities to champion creative learning, innovate education, and transform lives. In this role, you will direct all individual fund development and awareness-building activities to achieve short- and long-term strategic goals. Plan, manage, and execute initiatives to create meaningful engagement experiences for all Arts for Learning (AFL) audiences by demonstrating the impact of individual giving and deepening donor relationships. In collaboration with the AFL team, draft and manage budgets in relation to creating external communication pieces including print, video, social media, and email. Work with the President and the AFL team to strengthen the organization’s leadership role in the field of arts education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Donor Relations (50%)

Supported by the President and Board of Directors Development Committee, develop and manage all donor relations and fundraising activities for contributed income including, direct mail, online, in-kind, special events, and affiliate group programs.

Communications (50%)

Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan including branding and other marketing and communication tools to achieve the organization’s strategic goals. Develop and manage outreach efforts, including communications, marketing, advocacy, and business development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, arts management, or related field
Five or more years of experience in fund development and/or donor relations
Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Wix, Wordpress, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Adobe Suite, Google Adwords, and social media platforms
Experience in arts or arts education field preferred
Excellent communication skills – oral, written, and digital
Highly organized with the ability to meet multiple deadlines
Proven track record for building relationships with donors and community stakeholders
Knowledge of data-driven decision-making tactics and assessment and evaluation tools for continuous operational improvement
Some evenings and weekends required as needed based on special events schedule
