Programming and Technical Assistance UnitThe Programming and Technical Assistance Unit was originally established in August 2006. Our mission is promoting the use of research informed practices in Florida’s juvenile justice programs.
Bureau of Monitoring and Quality ImprovementThe Bureau of Monitoring and Quality Improvement provides the Department with the information necessary to assess the fiscal and programmatic accountability of its providers, both Departmental and contracted.
Bureau of Procurement and Contract Administration (BPCA)This bureau develops procurement and contract documents upon request from the appropriate Assistant Secretary’s office; facilitates the procurement process; and provides technical assistance to Department staff with the procurement and contract processes and documents.

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)The purpose of the act is to “provide for the analysis of the incidence and effects of prison rape in Federal, State, and local institutions and to provide information, resources, recommendations and funding to protect individuals from prison rape.”

Detention Services
DJJ operates 21 juvenile detention centers in the state of Florida. Detention centers provide custody, supervision, education and mental health/substance abuse and medical services to juveniles statewide.

Prevention ServicesThe Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Prevention Services offers voluntary youth crime prevention programs throughout the state of Florida. Our mission is to enhance public safety through high-quality effective services for youth and families delivered by world-class professionals dedicated to building a stronger, safer Florida.
Probation & Community InterventionProbation and Community Intervention works with youth from the time they are arrested to the time they transition back into the community. The Juvenile Probation Officers play a major role throughout the Juvenile Justice process.
Residential ServicesThe Office of Residential Services provides continued care for an adjudicated youth who is committed to the custody of the Department.
Florida Scholars AcademyThe Florida Scholars Academy helps youth in DJJ’s care attain a high school or high school equivalency diploma, receive industry-recognized credentials, and enroll in a postsecondary program of study at a Florida college, university, or technical college.
Department Support ServicesOutside of the core program areas, the offices for administration, inspector general, staff development, legislative affairs, general counsel, and accountability and program support help keep DJJ running smoothly.
