Campaign News - Naturally Healthy May Campaign Engages With Young People

This May, the Naturally Healthy campaign, led by Active Devon and Devon County Council on behalf of the Devon Local Nature Partnership, has been actively engaging with young people across Devon. The goal is to explore the benefits of outdoor activity on mood, how it can support managing worries, and offer a enjoyable and healthy way to unwind after studying. We will be sharing lots of resources to support, but if you have a story to tell about how being active in nature helps pupils in your school, please get in touch on schools@activedevon.org

Mental Health Awareness Week Aims To Get Us Moving

Mental Health Awareness Week is taking place between 13th-19th May 2024. This year the theme is Movement: moving more for our mental health. We’ve selected three resources to help you include movement in your school to support your pupils mental health.
Join Paralympian Ade Adepitan and Blue Peter’s Shini Muthukrishnan for their Live Lesson on Monday 13th May at 11am when they’ll be introducing a brand new BBC Moodboosters routine. Moodboosters are short, interactive videos that can be used by your class to get active, whilst supporting mental health and wellbeing. Find out more here.
Public Health England have created a Year 6 lesson plan. Pupils explore the link between physical and mental wellbeing. Developed with teachers and NHS approved, this lesson explores how looking after our physical health can have a positive impact on our mental wellbeing.
Pupils consider the different elements of physical wellbeing, including getting active, eating well, and getting good quality sleep.
Stormbreak is a charity that supports primary aged children’s mental health through movement. As well as paid for programme, they have an enormous range of free resources to support schools to embed mentally healthy movement in every school, for every child, every day.
We’d love to hear from and showcase schools that are using physical activity and movement to support the mental health of both pupils and/or staff. If you’ve got a story to share, please get in touch at schools@activedevon.org.
