Drainage improvements will be undertaken at Mile Hill in Little Torrington from next week.
The A386 Mile Hill will be completely closed to traffic from Monday 9 October until Friday 27 October while the work is carried out.
As part of the scheme, new gullies will be installed and the road surface will also be patched.
Advance warning signs about the road closure will be located at Inwardleigh, Hatherleigh, Meeth, Merton, Taddiport and Great Torrington.
During the closure, the official diversion route will be signed via the A3124 Beaford, Winkleigh, A3072 Sampford Chapple, Jacobstowe, A386 Hatherleigh, Meeth and Merton.
HGVs approaching Little Torrington via the A386 will be advised to turn at Gribble Cross junction.
