CONNECTING WITH A RECEPTION AND PLACEMENT (R&P) PROGRAM RESETTLEMENT AGENCY

Afghans who are paroled into the United States and do not travel through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) after being assigned to a resettlement agency overseas may wish to access the Reception & Placement (R&P) Program. To do so, individuals must approach a local resettlement agency within 90 days of being paroled into the United States to request assistance. Afghan parolees may still be eligible for other benefits and programs even without participating in the R&P Program.

• The directory of local resettlement agencies in each state is linked below. The United States is a large country with many diverse and welcoming cities that have affordable and safe housing, employment opportunities, and strong resettlement services and support.

• Due to the number of arrivals and little to no housing availability in some locations such as Sacramento and Northern Virginia, services may be limited or delayed in these locations.
