Updated Greenhouse Gas Accounting support for councilsThursday 23 May 2024, 10:30am - 12:00pmThe Greenhouse Gas Accounting Tool (the Tool) and the Waste Emissions Calculator (the Calculator) are free, simple and accessible resources for councils to use in accounting for their greenhouse gas emissions. The Tool has been downloaded over 270 times since 2020, and the Calculator over 80 times since early 2023. Both are iterative documents in that we encourage open dialogue and feedback from user councils, asking you to let us know what you want to see added to them, and how you are using them. The resources save council officers time because they include the correct Department for Energy Security and Net Zero emissions factors and remove the requirement for pre-existing carbon calculation knowledge. They save councils money because they provide a robust self-reporting method for all. At this virtual event you will hear about the latest updates to the Tool and Calculator. Further options for recording Scope 3 emissions including Anaerobic Digestion for waste treatment will have been added, the Scope 3 guidance and Frequently Asked Questions will have been updated. We will discuss how best we can help councils share information and learn from each other, including by using LGInform. Programme:
