COVID-19 Data and Intelligence (Historical)

The Isle of Wight Council is no longer producing COVID-19 data packs. Universal COVID-19 testing ended on 31 March 2022. This has limited our ability to interpret published data on case numbers/rates in a meaningful way. Thus from the end of April 2022 this dashboard was no longer updated.

Our Public Health team continues to review publicly available sources of information. This is to understand the national, regional and local picture of COVID-19. We continue to work with partners in other organisations like UKHSA, NHS and other local authorities. This makes sure we're able to escalate our actions if needed.

The data used on the pages continue to be updated nationally. The links to each of these data updates is on the dashboard under the 'Sources' tab.

Population health needs, risks and vulnerabilities in the context of COVID-19

SARS-CoV-2 is a novel virus; much remains to be understood about transmission, dynamics and effects of our population. Local knowledge and intelligence is key when interpreting localised transmission, to identify common factors early enough and prevent further spread of COVID-19. This data pack supports this. Yet caution is needed when interpreting some of this data. For example: increasing trends may reflect increased testing, changes in recording, coding or reporting rather than a true increase in incidents. Emerging intelligence is preliminary and subject to change.
