Mobilisation of medical personnel under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism – Czechia’s eligibility
22.3.2021
Priority question for written answer P-001589/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Marcel Kolaja (Verts/ALE)
Several Member States, including Czechia, have been struggling with a severe lack of medical staff to treat patients with COVID-19.
Neighbouring Slovakia recently requested help from the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. In response, Denmark offered to send three doctors and five nurses, and Belgium offered two nurses, a doctor and a team leader.
- 1.What requirements do Member States have to meet to be eligible for such assistance under the EU Civil Mechanism Protection and does Czechia fulfil these criteria?
- 2.Have the Czech authorities requested medical help under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism?
