Sharing and receiving real-life stories about society’s mental health challenges plays a vital role in reducing the stigma that surrounds it. In support, this week we share with you the origin stories and details of an upcoming virtual theatrical experience on mental illness that One Mind is supporting and our most recent Forbes.com blog piece about the cultural and societal contexts that change the landscape of mental health internationally, while also inviting you to a live virtual event that our One Mind President will be sharing his own mental health story at. Sharing stories will remain a key focus of ours and we hope it motivates you to share your story too.

Reducing Stigma Through Storytelling

Brain Waves - Friday, February 12th
Over this past year, mental health struggles have become even more widespread. Yet, unlike other physical ailments, there is often a reluctance to openly discuss them. But what if that were not the case? What if the sharing of stories - all of our stories - was welcomed and encouraged? for this week's Brain Waves, we will be joined by two people who are creating this dialogue, using individual stories to ignite the conversation about mental illness and eliminate the stigma that surrounds it.

To engage on this topic, please join us this Friday, February 12th at Noon PT (3pm ET) for our next Brain Waves episode. One Mind President, Brandon Staglin will host an informative conversation with Dr. Zachary Burton and Debbie Bisno, Co-founder and Producer of McCarter Theatre Center's The Manic Monologues, a One Mind supported virtual experience about mental illness that launches on February 18th. A sneak peek of The Manic Monologues will be shown during the episode.
