Attend meeting October 4 to discover our continued efforts to reduce odors

The Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) invites the community to their 12th annual community meeting on Tuesday, October 4 at 6 p.m. to discuss odors and other operational topics of importance to residents. This meeting will be held virtually.  Please RSVP here to receive the virtual meeting link.

The workshop will include updates on current WPWMA projects and provide an opportunity for residents to engage with WPWMA staff and ask questions surrounding the following topics:

  • WPWMA history and facility operations
  • On- and offsite odor conditions
  • Regulations affecting odors
  • Enhancements to the odor monitoring system
  • An overview of the WPWMA’s Waste Action Plan to address western Placer County’s future waste management needs.

The WPWMA – a joint powers authority comprised of Placer County and the cities of Lincoln, Rocklin, and Roseville – owns and operates a Material Recovery Facility and the only active landfill in Placer County. Over the past 12 years, the WPWMA has conducted community meetings to engage residents in a dialogue regarding the WPWMA’s operations and regional odor conditions.

“WPWMA is excited to share information about our current and future efforts aimed at addressing facility odors and how we are meeting the solid waste and regulatory requirements,” said Eric Oddo, WPWMA Program Manager. “Western Placer is rapidly growing, and we want to continue supporting our commitment to being a good partner in the community.”

WPWMA hopes to see you at this year’s online meeting on Tuesday, October 4 at 6 p.m. For additional questions, please contact Emily Hoffman at ehoffman@placer.ca.gov or visit our Odor Page.
