Summary Retain original provisions; establish that the Governor shall notify the Secretary of State of any vacancy in the office of United States Senator within three days of the occurrence of the vacancy; establish that the Secretary of State shall post a notice of the vacancy on his or her Web site with notice of the date and time for the filing of nomination papers for any candidate seeking to fill the unexpired term by election; establish that all petitions of nomination shall be filed within 30 days of posting of the vacancy; and establish that no candidate who has filed nomination papers seeking to fill the unexpired term by election shall be eligible for appointment by the Governor.
