From the Sierra SBDC & the Placer Business Resource Center: The Business Creator Course
This immersive, six-week program is perfect for people who want to transform their passion into a prosperous enterprise or are ready to take their budding small business to the next level. Professional instructors will encourage a results-driven mindset for each participant while one-to-one mentors and other team members actively support students’ goals. You will be ready to launch your business at the conclusion of the series.
Business Creator covers everything from conquering fears and obstacles to the core competencies of time management, bookkeeping, taxes, law, insurance, marketing, and technology. Class curriculum focuses on the skills needed to launch now and lay the foundation for successfully moving forward in 2022.
The virtual classroom environment is lively and interactive, with students and experienced instructors teaching and learning from each other. In addition to classroom sessions, the weekly Accountability Group keeps students on track and motivated.

Guiding Teacher – Robert Trent
Robert has been consulting with businesses for twenty-five years. His for-profit marketing communication company Velocity7 assisted local “mom and pops,” corporations, government organizations, and NGO’s with planning, outreach, marketing, and public relations. As the founder and Executive Director of the Nevada County non-profit Sierra Commons, Robert has consulted with and taught hundreds of entrepreneurs – helping them plan, launch, and grow their businesses. Robert was also Executive Director of the Nevada County Economic Resource Council and has launched and sold several small businesses. With a broad understanding of what it takes for companies to survive and thrive, Robert brings his expertise to SBDC clients who are inspired to take their businesses to the next level.
