Running from Saturday 25 November until Sunday 10 December, it’s an annual call from individuals, organisations, and communities across the world for an end to gender-based violence and the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

To mark 16 Days of Action in Devon this year, organisations and services are hosting a calendar of events and activities to help bring communities together, raise awareness, and shine a light on the support available to victims and survivors.

We can all play a part in helping to end violence against women and girls in our communities. Find out how to get involved, show your support, and learn more about 16 Days of Action on the Safer Devon website - https://saferdevon.co.uk/domestic-sexual...

Widespread disruption is likely across Devon this evening and tomorrow as severe weather warnings for wind and rain have been issued by the Met Office ahead of Storm Ciarán.

Heavy rain and damaging gusts of wind could lead to flooding, flying debris, power cuts, travel disruption and damage to buildings.

We've produced a special edition of our Connect Me newsletter to share advice about what you can to minimise the risk to yourself and others. Read it online here - https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts...

It's been closed today after a large void was found under the road during gas works close to Ashley Rise.

Investigations have been carried out and we're planning to re-open one lane, with temporary traffic lights and a 20mph restriction from tomorrow morning (Saturday 21 October).

Repairs are due to get underway on Tuesday, when the road will have to be closed again for safety reasons.

For the test, you do not need to take any action - simply swipe away the message or click ‘OK’ on your phones home screen.

Emergency Alerts are messages sent to all compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones when there’s a danger to your life, health or property in the area you’re located. They don’t need your location or phone number and only the Government and the emergency services can send them.

This type of alert has already been used successfully in a number of other countries, including the US, Canada, the Netherlands and Japan, where it has been widely credited with saving lives, for example, during severe weather events. Find out more: https://www.gov.uk/alerts
