What’s Your 20-Year Vision for Your Community?
2024 King County Comprehensive Plan
Dear Friend,
We would like to hear your thoughts about your community to help shape our 2024 Comprehensive Plan – a once-in-a-decade process which guides where people live, work, and play in unincorporated communities in King County. The planners want to hear from you – via email, a short survey, or at a virtual town hall meeting – on whether what’s included makes sense, is missing anything or is generally headed in the right direction.
Please share your thoughts by Friday, February 24th so they can be used to help refine the proposals. Check out the three ways to participate in sharing your feedback:
-
Learn more and view the policy proposals on the Comprehensive Plan website and take the short survey
-
Share your thoughts via email at compplan@kingcounty.gov
-
Join a virtual town hall:
-
Thursday, February 9 (6-8:30 p.m.) – Join Zoom meeting
-
Thursday, February 16 (6-8:30 p.m.) – Join Zoom meeting
The Comprehensive Plan overview document provides a high-level summary of the actions King County is considering in order to meet the needs of our communities. Some highlights include:
-
Strategies to mitigate cultural, economic, and residential displacement in unincorporated area communities
-
Proposals to allow "middle housing" types and “inclusionary housing” in unincorporated area communities
-
Plans to manage and reduce wildfire risk and extreme heat made worse by climate change
-
Strategies to phase out fossil fuel usage in buildings and improve transportation equity
-
Updates to critical area regulations and Four-to-One program and Transfer of Development Rights program
- Development of the Snoqualmie Valley/Northeast King County Community Service Area Subarea Plan (everything in the unincorporated areas east of Issaquah and Sammamish, including outside of North Bend, Snoqualmie, Carnation, Duvall and Skykomish, and the townships of Fall City and Snoqualmie Pass), including potential land use and zoning changes
If you have any questions, please reach out to our Communications and Community Engagement Manager Osman at osman.salahuddin@kingcounty.gov. The deadline for public comment is Friday, February 24th.
All the best,
