The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) is replacing lead service lines at a steady pace, already replacing more than 5,000. But we're putting our foot on the gas with a plan to change 8,000 a year (and completion within ten years) - and DWSD has hired more Detroiters to do the work.

That's how we do it - proactive about public health and economically impacting lives. A big THANKS to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy and other partners for funding support!

Join us as we harness the sun’s power to revitalize neighborhoods and lighten energy burdens.

Donele Wilkins, CEO of Green Door Initiative, spotlights Detroit’s push to go off-grid with clean energy. Green Door Initiative, a Neighborhood Solar Partner (NSP), is among community-based organizations aiding residents through this process.

Under Mayor Duggan, mostly vacant lots are becoming solar hubs, reviving neighborhoods and offering residents an average of $15,000 per acre for energy efficiency upgrades. Each neighbor can choose to use benefits to reduce energy burden - from new windows to smart thermostats and battery backups. Let’s back this drive for a greener, empowered Detroit!
