Support Cumbria

This site provides a central point to coordinate activity to support Cumbrian communities and organisations during major incidents.

Register your community group!

Are you involved in a community group or voluntary sector organisation that is likely to play an active role during major incidents?

Registering on Support Cumbria means that the partner organisations within Cumbria Local Resilience Forum will be able to contact your group with information during our preparations for severe weather and other incidents. This might include:

  • Weather Warnings from the Met Office
  • Flood Warnings from the Environment Agency
  • Information about wildfires
  • Information on loss of power or water

Cumbria Local Resilience Forum is a partnership of all organisations and agencies involved with emergency response in our communities. Civil Contingencies Act 2004 requires organisations across specific areas to work together to prepare, respond and recover from different emergencies, why Cumbria Local Resilience Forum was created.

We will also contact your group with information on training sessions that you might be interested in and may contact you during an incident to gather information on how your community is affected.

Registering your organisation in advance helps us to have a coordinated response.

We’re keen for all kinds of community groups to register – it doesn’t matter if you already have a community emergency plan, have been involved in Coronavirus response, or are just starting to think about the role your organisation could play during an emergency.

I WOULD LIKE TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER OR ORGANISATION

We are not actively recruiting individual volunteers at the moment but may use Support Cumbria to do this during an incident (as we did during the Coronavirus Pandemic).

Cumbria appreciates and is thankful to all those wishing to volunteer their time.

Disaster Appeals for Other Incidents

Disaster appeals are way in which the public and businesses can support those impacted through allowing the individual to decide what is needed. Financial support allows people to make decisions and some control over the impacts.

In Cumbria there is a partnership with Cumbria Community Foundation who will assist with processing disaster funds.

Cumbria Community Foundation is part of a national and international network of community foundations.  Together we seek to support people and organisations wishing to invest in the local community.

If a disaster fund is established you will be able to find details on how to donate on their Website: https://www.cumbriafoundation.org/

Together we can Support Cumbria - Thank You!
