Spring 2024 Digital SAT School Day Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The Indiana Department of Education's (IDOE’s) Office of Student Assessment provides this

document to answer common questions regarding school preparation for the digital SAT School

Day administration for the 2023-2024 school year.

General Guidance

Number Question Answer

1 What platform will be

used to administer the

digital SAT School Day

assessment in spring

2024?

Test Day Toolkit is an online application that testing staff will use to

administer the digital SAT. Bluebook is the application that students

use to take the digital SAT on Mac and Windows devices, iPads,

and school-managed Chromebooks. Bluebook and Test Day Toolkit

work together to make digital testing possible.

2 When is the testing

window for Indiana’s

digital SAT School Day for

the 2023-2024 school

year?

The primary testing window will be held from Monday, March 4,

through Friday, March 15, 2024. The makeup testing window will be

held from Monday, April 8, through Friday, April 19, 2024.

Schools have the flexibility to test any time within the approved

window, and they may allocate multiple days within the window for

testing. Students must still individually complete testing in one day

unless they have accommodations that allow for two-day testing.

3 Who do I contact if I have

questions regarding the

SAT?

Contact College Board Customer Service for questions regarding

technical troubleshooting via phone at (866) 609-2205.

Contact College Board via email at

indianatesting@collegeboard.org for general questions regarding

the SAT.

For questions related to state testing policies, contact IDOE’s Office

of Student Assessment via email at INassessments@doe.in.gov or

phone at 317-232-9050.

4 How are students

registered to take the

digital SAT School Day in

spring 2024?

The quantity of digital tests made available to schools to support

testing is based on the number of students submitted to College

Board during the state-level registration process.

The College Board SAT Suite Ordering and Registration System

(SSOR) will not be used to place orders for the Spring SAT School

Day.

5 How will College Board

know that my school is

participating in the

Indiana SAT School Day?

IDOE will send College Board a list of all eligible schools for the

statewide SAT School Day administration for federal accountability.

Corporation Test Coordinators (CTCs) must identify who will act as

the School Test Coordinator (STC) for the SAT by completing the

Indiana School Set-Up Survey for the Spring 2024 SAT School Day.

Schools that fail to complete the survey will be considered non- participating schools. Additional information on participation in

statewide assessments can be found in the Indiana Assessments

Policy Manual.

6 Do I need an Attending

Institution (AI) code to

administer the SAT?

Yes, an AI code is required. If you already have an AI code to

administer other College Board assessments, you will use the same

one.

If your school currently does not have an AI code, one will be

assigned to you. AI codes will be emailed to STCs by the end of

January 2024.

7 Is there a checklist of

activities or key dates

available to prepare for

testing?

The SAT 2023-2024 Milestones resource highlights key dates and

timelines to prepare for the SAT. Please note that some dates in the

document are approximate and subject to minor changes. CTCs

should monitor assessment updates through the Office of Student

Assessment listservs.

In late fall, College Board will provide an Interactive Coordinator

checklist to STCs with periodic, personalized reminders pertinent to

the digital SAT School Day implementation.

8 Which students are

required to or can

participate in the SAT

School Day?

Grade 11 (junior cohort) students will participate in the SAT per the

federal accountability requirement. Students with a valid attempt

from the primary testing window are not permitted to retest during

the makeup testing window.

Students who have not yet graduated may use the SAT to achieve

the graduation qualifying examination (GQE) requirement or to

qualify for the GQE waiver. Schools must submit any of these

students using this form to upload them into College Board’s

registration system beginning in early 2024.

Additional grade levels may not participate in the statewide

administration.

9 How long does it take

students to complete the

SAT School Day?

Standard testing time for the digital SAT, including breaks, is two

hours and 14 minutes. However, schools should plan an additional

20-30 minutes on test day to account for seating students, reading

directions, passing out test tickets, etc.

10 Will a writing component

(essay) be administered

as part of the SAT School

Day?

No, the essay component of the SAT is not included for the Indiana

SAT for federal accountability.

11 Can my school administer

the SAT on paper instead

of digitally?

IDOE’s expectation is that schools will administer the SAT digitally.

If a student has an accommodation in their Individualized Education

Plan (IEP) or Section 504 Plan that requires paper-and-pencil

testing, the request for the paper test should be made via Services

for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Online by January 12, 2024.

12 How can schools update

their STC information

during the school year?

You will have the opportunity to provide current STC information in

the School Set-up Survey available in September. If schools need to

update STC information after the survey is submitted, they should

complete this form.

13 What staff is required to

administer the SAT?

Schools are responsible for designating an STC, a backup STC, an

SSD Coordinator, proctors for each testing room, a Technology

Coordinator, and necessary room and hall monitors to support

testing.

Although the STC is responsible for coordinating the administration

for all students, the CTC, backup STC, Technology Coordinator,

and SSD Coordinator should collaborate to ensure that the test

administration is planned and executed effectively. Staff members

can serve multiple roles, if necessary. More information regarding

roles can be found in the 2023-2024 Assessment User Roles and

Responsibilities Checklist.

Role Responsibility Identification Needed

CTC Assists the STC with coordination of the

SAT.

Yes. This role is identified through IDOE

via DOE Online designation.

administration if the STC is unable to

complete the identified requirements.

Yes, backup STCs must be identified in

the School Set-up Survey distributed in

September.

SSD Coordinator

Responsible for requesting accommodations

in SSD Online and working with the STC to

coordinate the SAT for students with

disabilities.

Yes, SSD Coordinators must be

identified in the School Set-up Survey

that will be distributed in September. In

identified in the school set-up survey

distributed in September.

Proctor
