Parliamentary question - E-006078/2020(ASW)Parliamentary question
E-006078/2020(ASW)

Answer given by Mr Hahn on behalf of the European Commission

The Honourable Members will find in Annex 1 a list of the contract type “prizes” published on the Financial Transparency System[1] (FTS) for the period 2014-2019. Data for 2020 will become available in June 2021.

The names of natural persons published on the FTS are masked two years after the end of the financial year in which the funds were legally committed[2].

The FTS provides information on beneficiaries of EU funding directly administered by the Commission departments, its staff in the EU delegations, through executive agencies and of the European Development Fund, from 2007 onwards.

It does not provide information on funding from the EU budget implemented by the Commission and Member States in shared management or implemented indirectly by other international organisations or non-EU countries.

The Natura 2000 Award[3] recognises good practices at Natura 2000 sites and has moved from an annual to a two-year cycle after the 2016 edition. The European Natura 2000 Citizens’ Award[4] was launched in 2015. The winners are announced at a high-level ceremony[5] in Brussels. The Commission launches a call for tenders for the organisation of each edition of the Natura 2000 Award (that could be renewed once).

Stars4Media, run by a consortium of media professionals and experts, supports innovation in the media sector. The first Stars4Media edition took place in 2020. During the Media4Europe conference[6], the consortium awarded prizes to the five most outstanding initiatives, among the 21 completed under the Stars4Media project[7].

The projects received a symbolic prize, consisting of award certificates, a set of media-related books and public recognition via the Stars4Media consortium.

A breakdown of the costs of the award ceremonies is available in Annex 2.
