Placer Supervisors approve $175,000 in defensible space grant funding for qualifying eastern Placer County residents

 

The Placer County Board of Supervisors this month approved the acceptance of $175,000 in grant funding for the development of a Defensible Space Fuels Reduction Program, aimed at assisting low-income senior and disabled residents in eastern Placer County.


The program will provide qualifying residents with assistance to improve defensible space around their homes and properties to reduce the risk of loss of life and property in the event of a wildfire. The funding is made possible by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation through its Forest Futures program. The foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting people to valuable resources. READ MORE

In case you missed it: Replay the two North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program community meetings

 

Placer County held a pair of meetings with the community this month to discuss implementation of the first phase of its North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program. Each meeting was held virtually and facilitated by the county’s program consultant, Dixon Resources Unlimited, and provided community members with opportunities to share their vision for the future. 

 

Both the Jan. 10 and 11 meetings were recorded and have been posted to our Parking Management Program website. Information on future workshops will be shared on this page when available. WATCH VIDEOS

 


Housing

Apply today to join the Short-Term Rental Advisory Group 

 

A formalized Short-Term Rental Advisory Group is being created, per direction from the Board of Supervisors in fall of 2023. Interested participants can apply today through this application. Applications are due by Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m. The committee has 14 designated seats which you can learn more about in the STR Advisory Group Guidelines.

All applicants will be notified the week of Monday, Jan. 29, following a review of the candidates by members of a county selection committee. READ MORE
