SPOKANE, Wash. - An ongoing investigation led by the Regional Street Crimes Unit (ReSCU) led to the arrests of two people and the seizure of the first known commercial pill press in eastern Washington, multiple firearms and a large number of illegal drugs.

During their investigation, ReSCU, with assistance from Spokane Police SWAT and Special Investigations Unit, obtained multiple search warrants for different locations around Spokane. The search warrants were served in connection with a "lengthy and ongoing illegal drug investigation," according to ReSCU.

Timothy G. Maddox, 43, was arrested on two counts of first and second-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and drive-by shooting in relation to an unreleased investigation.

Nicholas B. Adams, 35, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Investigators found two pill press machines, one being the first known commercial-style pill press associated with illegal drug manufacturing in the Eastern District of Washington. The press is believed to produce around 17,000 pills an hour. The second press is much smaller and is believed to have the capability to produce up to 3,000 pills an hour.

Investigators also located 15 guns and $57,469, along with multiple pistol bump stocks.

The following substances were seized but have not yet been confirmed as they still need to be tested:

  • 446 grams of methamphetamine
  • 2,057 grams of a powder suspected to be fentanyl
  • 660 grams of heroin
  • 206 grams of cocaine

Three kilogram-sized packages were also found and remain sealed, waiting to be tested.

The Washington State Department of Ecology responded to assist due to the amount of potentially dangerous substances found.

This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation, and no more information will be released at this time.

"As facts are learned about the items seized and the specific involvement of the arrested suspects and others, additional arrests and charges, including potential federal charges, are expected," said ReSCU.
