“We are negotiating all the time. In fact, any time you are toe to toe, kneecap to kneecap, belly button to belly button with another individual, you’re negotiating.” --Roger Dawson
It’s true that we are negotiating all the time. It’s also true that for many of us, it is a very stressful process. Let’s set up a new goal: to still get what we want, but have our negotiations be more fun, less stressful. How about using this formula:
SAY YES + PROPOSE A TRADE OFF = GET WHAT WE WANT WITH MORE FUN, LESS STRESS
Step 1: SAY YES. Well that was easy.
Stip 2: OFFER A TRADE OFF.
Welcome to 2024. With it, it brings possibilities, challenges, opportunities, choices and yes, inevitably, STRESS you didn’t see coming. It happens to all of us despite how prepared we think we are. I wasn’t sure if it was going to make it more difficult or if it would be easy. My idea was to write an article about alternative lending
Starting and operating a business will require developing skills in delivering a crucial conversation. So what is a crucial conversation? First, your opinion and the other person’s opinions vary. Second, the stakes are high and emotions are strong.
For example, you have an employee that you like but now feel taken advantage of in some way. You depend on their work, yet are increasingly feeling that something is wrong and you need to talk. You have been avoiding this, and are fearful of handling this poorly. Other examples can be
- Talking to a coworker who behaves offensively
- Deali
Many of us strive to keep learning new things in life and in our careers.
I recently joined my county Economic Development Corporation as well as the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and this has proven to be an opportunity for personal growth and given me the opportunity to meet some great people.
Personally, I think the title “Brownfield Redevelopment” is certainly an accurate reflection of the vision for the program but could use a title makeover by the marketing department – but I digress.
Throughout my various meetings and conversations, the topic of “affordable”, “attainable”
